congregant information

The custom of lighting a yahrzeit candle is deeply ingrained in Jewish life. Many Jews who are otherwise unobservant follow this custom. While it is customary to light a candle in the home, many congregations have taken the decision to install an electronic yahrzeit board.

Honour your loved ones and help your congregation

Yizkorp offers the service of installing and maintaining memorial boards.
A memorial board is an effective way of raising much needed funds for your congregation.

Never forget a yahrzeit

The Yizkorp memorial board is pre-programmed to light up for every yahrzeit and yizkor service for the next 10 years∞. In addition, Yizkorp will email you before every yahrzeit and yizkor service during this period∞, reminding you to light a yahrzeit candle in your home and that kaddish should be recited in your loved one's memory.

Quick turn-around

The addition of new plaques to an existing memorial board can be achieved within 10 business days from order finalisation.

The congregant's role

Respond to the congregant brochure or email, directly to Yizkorp.

Yizkorp's role

Once a congregant purchases a plaque, we will:

  • Liaise with congregant to finalise wording
  • Calculate and program yahrzeit and yizkor dates (switching on and off of memorial lights) for 10 years beyond the installation of the most recently added plaque∞
  • Manufacturing including subcontracting
  • Facilitation of memorial board installation*
  • All administration
  • Processing payments from congregants and forwarding the shule's portion

The Shule's role

The Shule has little to do, other than making a Yizkorp congregant brochure (electronic and/or hardcopy) available to the congregants. After initial installation, new plaques ordered will be mailed to the Shule together with updated electronic information. It couldn't be easier...

How does it work?

Our boards run for a fraction of the cost of older style, incandescent bulb boards.

The computerisation of the switching process provides an automated process eliminating the need for manually lighting individual plaques.

The board and its workings are designed to be expandable and will grow with your requirements.

Need someone to say kaddish on your behalf?

If you are unable to say kaddish for your departed family member, simply reply to your yahrzeit reminder email and someone can be asked to say kaddish on your behalf. It is traditional to make a donation where this occurs and by selecting this option, you will be prompted to make a donation to your shule.

Other ways of memorialising a loved one

Do you have the tallit, tefillin, challah dekel or any other item that belonged to your departed family member? Speak to us about the options for having these framed.

What is the next step

If your congregation already has a Yizkorp memorial board, simply visit our "contact us" page and complete the information required.

If your congregation does not have a Yizkorp memorial board, a Yizkorp representative is available to meet with the Rabbi and/or your shule board to clarify any aspects of our offering and to gain a greater understanding of your kehila's requirements.

* = Installation includes physical, but not electrical connection.
